Why Taiwan and Korea ?

President Ma Ying-jeou said ´ We very appreciated for your taking the lead in bilateral people-to-people diplomacy´

And Minister of Economic Affairs, Yiin Chii Ming said ´We esteem him for his effort and aspiration for re-construction of mutual economy´s channel´

Taiwan, as a Gateway to mainland China

It was Baik Yong Ki, a Korean business-man, the Vice Chairman of Seoul-Taipei Club, who firstly awarded the economic medal from Ministry of Economic Affairs, R.O.C

He awarded it on May 14 in Taipei, and on that day expressed his mind.

" I do not deserve such a honor, from now on, I am a real messenger for mutual economical tie, doing my best to serve for Korean as well as Taiwanese businessmen "

He continued,  ´What I have done is to make opportunities for Korea-Taiwan people to come-and-go at any time. And just hope that Korea-Taiwan´s relation should be same as nowaday Cross-Straits relation in every field´

Last December saw that Baik´s economic mission, which composed of more 30 distinguished businessmen from Korea, visited Taiwan, focusing on mutual investment and business cooperation.

So it´s true that many Korean businessmen think, Taiwan is a Gateway to mainland China.

Meanwhile many distinguished guests from economical as well as official world, even such as Vice-minister of Foreign Ministry gathered there, celebrating Baik´s honor.

Regarding the background of Baik´s honor, Taipei Mission in Korea said ´ It´s true that he has done efforts for a long time to re-construct the new channel for bilateral businessmen ´

" What´s better, considering that cross-straits relation becomes more active and vigorous, and that Taiwan-Korea´s exchgange create a boom at various fields, we think that in the future Baik´s role can be a new conerstone for the Renaissance of bilateral economical relation " they said.
