라이스 전(前) 미 국무장관, 대만 마잉주 총통 리더쉽 극찬 !

【뉴스캔】라이스 전(前) 미 국무장관은 최근 대만의 마잉주 총통의 실용주의 외교에 대해 위대한 리더 쉽이라 평했다.

 

남미 방문을 마치고 잠깐 미국 샌프란시스코에 들른 마 총통에게 라이스 전 국무장관은 전화통화를 통해, 중국과의 관계 개선은 마 총통의 독특한 실용외교 산물이라면서, 마 총통의 리더 쉽을 극찬했다.

 

이어 그녀는 마 총통의 외교노선을 지지한다고 밝히며, 양안관계 개선은 이른바 ‘상상을 초월한 자유로운’(Surprise free)외교의 덕분이라 강조했다.

 

이어 대만-중국간의 관계개선은 미국의 대외정책에도 큰 도움이 된다고 덧붙였다.

Former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice praised President Ma Ying-jeou’s great leadership and his mainland policy, which has resulted in positive cross-strait interactions.

According to Taiwan Today, Rice made the statement during a call with Ma while he was in San Francisco for a one-night stopover the end of last month.

During their conversation, Rice also expressed support for Ma’s diplomatic approach, saying that Washington viewed the “surprise free” principle embedded in his flexible diplomacy approach as helpful to U.S. cross-strait policy.

Meanwhile, in response, Ma thanked Rice for her support of U.S. weapons sales to Taiwan while in office.
