In response to a possible new influenza A(H1N1) outbreak, the Executive Yuan’s swine flu prevention task force recently decided to increase the island’s Tamiflu reserves to a level sufficient to treat 7 million people, or roughly 30 percent of the population.
The task force also reached a consensus on relaxing relevant regulations to allow for the expanded use of the antiviral drug.
Currently, Taiwan has sufficient reserves of Tamiflu to treat 14 percent of the population. If the country’s stores of shikimic acid, the base material for the production of Tamiflu, are included, the figure rises to 18 percent of the population.
대만정부는 신종플루(H1N1)의 발생 가능성 대비와 관련, 대만 행정원은 돼지 인플루엔자 T/F(task force)팀은 특효약인 타미플루 보유량을 늘리기로 했다고 최근 발표했다.
이는 대만 인구의 30%에 달하는 7백만이 충분히 사용할 수 있는 양이다.
또한, T/F팀은 치료제의 확대 사용을 위해 관련된 법의 수정안에 합의했다.
현재, 대만은 인구의 14%를 치료할수 있는 타미플루를 보유하고 있으며, 타미플루를 만드는 모재(母材)인 시키믹산(shikimic acid)을 포함한다면 인구의 18%가 사용할 수 있는 양을 보유하고 있다.
